Hasta Siempre (Jazz-Union Cuba Finnland)
Superb Afro Cuban and Latin Jazz by Paquito D’Rivera and some other genius Cuban and European jazz musicians. Recorded 1976 at FINNVOX Helsinki, Finnland. Produced in co-operation with the Cuban national record company EGREM and originally released 1976 in Finnland (Cuba – CULP-6) and isochronal in Cuba (Areito – LD-3666). Later was there also serval other re-releases. You can see some of the different releases with very different cover artworks on the website of Paquito D’Rivera (www.paquitosrecords.com).
What I like mostly is this later release on the small German PLÄNE label. Sure because of his felicitous cover design. The powerful photography by Ben Kaila/Saftra and the playful integrated light ITC American Typewriter™ works great together. Visual catchy as the sound that is wrapped in.
