Die Laumäckse
Jazz geht’s los

Max-von-Laue Gymnasium ‎– MvL 4012 G
Germany
1980

Crazy album by DIE LAUMÄCKSE, a school band from the Max-von-Laue Gymnasium, a grammar school located in Koblenz, Germany. Founded in 1976 and as much I know there are three, very rare records, privately released by the school itself.

Die Laumäckse

DIE LAUMÄCKSE playing Jazz in all styles. Sometimes also with spiritual choir vocals. Sure it’s a school band recording and there are ever some fragile or non-perfect parts. Especially when you compare some of the cover versions and interpretations of Jazz standards with the recordings of professional jazz musicians. But if you compare it with other German school band recordings it’s champions league and quite funky.

Mombasa

If you are interested in obscure and offside African music this second album from 1980 is the highly towering. It contains a raw percussive African tune called MOMBASA written by Lou Blackburn (Mombasa – African Rhythms & Blues). Respect! Dope Afro Funk performance by the girls and boys from the Max-von-Laue Gymnasium.
