Before Veronika Fischer moved to West Germany with her family in 1981, she was a very active part of the East German rock music scene in East Berlin (GDR/GDR). Singer of formations like Panta Rhei, Stern Meissen and Veronika Fischer & Band with successful releases on the East German record label AMIGA.
STAUNEN was her first West German album released on the WEA (Warner Elektra Atlantic) label. It is slick and glossily produced. Compatible for the West German rock-pop and 80s Schlager audience. You look in vain for the funky vibes from their earlier releases. Only one track is worth mentioning, a dope reggae called TIEF UNTER DER HAUT. At least partly very groovy, even if the chorus runs a bit too much in a cheesy direction. But great, also because of the beautiful German lyrics about being young and growing up.
